Preparing for and Caring for Your Microneedling Treatment
Before Your Appointment
- Hydrate: Moisturize your skin twice a day and drink at least eight glasses of water daily for seven days before your treatment to optimize results.
- Medications: Avoid anticoagulants (fish oil, aspirin, Advil, Motrin) and alcohol, caffeine, and excess Vitamin E for one week prior. Consult your doctor if you need to discontinue any medications. Avoid Accutane for 6 months prior.
- Antiviral Medication: If you have a history of cold sores, you may be prescribed antiviral medication 2–3 days before treatment.
- Skincare: Stop using retinoids, glycolic acids, benzoyl peroxide, and other “anti-aging” products for seven days before and after treatment.
- Health Concerns: Reschedule if you have a cold, flu, or any skin issues in the treatment area.
- Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week before treatment.
- Additional Guidelines: No IPL/Laser treatments, waxing, or electrolysis for 7 days prior. If using a peel, avoid products that increase sensitivity 3–4 days before.
After Your Appointment
- Avoid heavy sweating, sun exposure, and harsh products for several days.
- Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers as recommended.
- Follow all aftercare advice carefully to support healing.
